Moments Add Up

Moments trickle by until they add up into months.  I haven't made time for writing this Fall.  And I'm apologizing right now to myself.  I always feel so much better when I've let my thoughts flow.

It's not a good excuse, but it's been a hard school year so far ~ a few of the littles are rowdy, but it's mostly all the paperwork and changes that happen with each new school year.  I've been exhausted!

I promise myself right now that I will be back soon to dust off my fingers and blow the stale air out of my brain!

Back From My Extended Vacation!

Just a word to myself that it has been a LONG time since I've been on my blog . . .  but I'm back and ready to document more of my life.
My journey into healing.
My journey to become who God desires me to be.

Welcome home!
Now, get your rear end into the art room and get busy!!

I've Ordered My Chickie-Babies!

I'm so excited!

Last night I ordered my chicks ~ they'll be arriving in the middle of April, so that gives me time to build a stunning (lolol)  chicken coop for them.  (lololololololol ~ I have no skills at all!  I used to hold the wire, hold the hammer, hold the nails, find the measuring tape . . .  for my dad. )

All five of the chickens below will be arriving ~ plus a "Meal Maker".  Meyer's Hatchery has a special program going on to send you a free chick.  My mission will be to pass along free eggs from this chickie-baby to families who are in need.  So much better than getting one free "meat" chicken.  Just think how much protein my one little layer will be sharing around our little corner of the world!

Be sure to go to, look up chicks, and find out more about these great cuties!
These are my babies which will be arriving in about 3 months:

Barred Rock

Golden Buff ~ or Cinnamon Queen

Columbian Wyandotte

Happy Birthday!

Happy Birthday to my precious Joy!

You were my first little girl
after three little boys . . .
You were blessings and craziness
Snuggles and emergency room visits
So busy all day long
and loving everyone you met.
Your heart has always been big enough to
make everyone your extended family.

Now that you have children
someday you will know
how very bittersweet it is to say
that my daughter is 26 years old!

I am so proud of
the things you do
for the causes you support
with all your heart.

I love you!

Happy New Year!

I'm sharing my first two verses for the new year, 2013.  Isaiah 45:2-3
 Talk about new beginnings!

"I will go before thee and make the crooked places straight;
I will break in pieces the gates of brass and cut in sunder the bars of iron.
"And I will give thee the treasures of darkness,
and hidden riches of secret places,
that thou mayest know that I, the Lord,
which call thee by thy name, am the God of Israel . . . ."

"Prince of Peace" painted by Akiane

This should give us all the courage to step out into this new year
with head held high,
with banners flying ~
knowing that He is
 our captain,
our strength,
and our supporter.

A New Year

What are my resolutions for the new year?
I don't really make resolutions.
Because I know they will be broken in no time at all.

Instead, I'll work on my goals for this year.
Goals infer moving toward somethiing ~
but also give you space to make a mistake . . .
       to reconsider . . . .
to reshape it into a reality.

So, goals it shall be.  (You do notice that I am NOT saying "Wishes"!)
Goals I work at.  Wishes I dream about.

1.  To grow closer to the One who loves me best.
           To see as He sees . . .  love as He loves . . . .

2.  One goal ~ as every other year's first goal was:  lose weight/get healthy.  (sigh)
Maybe not to weigh 150 like I used to ~ but to be less than I am now!

3.   ~ chicken coop.  Make it a reality this year, even if I only have them for a year or two!

4.   ~  paint ~ at least 2 new paintings each month.

5.   ~ finish the letters I began for each of the children when I found out that
I have an aneurysm on the root of my aorta.  Fill them with love and dream . . .

6.   ~  bees?

7.   ~ write, write, write.

and #8. ~  Perhaps the most important ~ To become

the leading lady in my own life ~
      not an observer.
To MAKE things happen . . . not just to allow and work with what DOES happen.
              To learn to love me.
                  who I am now . . .
and who I will be tomorrow
                             and through this next year.
